Mauri Baggianois the founder and owner of indexHAUS.
Mauri received Honors with Distinction from the Faculty of Arts and Letters of SUNY at Buffalo where he earned his B.A. degree in English in 1975, after only 2 & 1/2 years of study. He went on to earn a J.D. degree from SUNY at Buffalo in 1978.
While an attorney–editor at the Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Company (now a Thomson/West Publishing company), Mauri learned the art of indexing from a talented, caring, and demanding staff of outstanding indexers, to whom he is forever grateful. His abilities in indexing were soon recognized by other publishers, including a publisher in Charlottesville, VA, that was owned by Macmillan Publishing at the time but later became part of the LexisNexis organization.
Throughout the 1990s Mauri served in the LexisNexis organization in Charlottesville, VA, as the lead for indexing development in print publications, acting as the Indexing Manager of State Code operations, and later, Indexing Manager of Professional Publications. In the late 1990s, he created for Lexis their first independent-contractor based, desktop publishing, indexing operation.
In the year 2000, Mauri left LexisNexis and started iNTELLiNDEX in Charlottesville, VA, a successful indexing business serving legal, medical, and college text book publishers in the USA and overseas for over 12 years. In 2004 he formed, along with a Lexis colleague, new bud press, inc., which offered to publishers, in addition to editorial services, indexing and tabling services. Today, Mauri resides in Jamestown, NY, with his wife Karen. He has successfully transitioned all of iNTELLiNDEX's and new bud's indexing operations to indexHAUS.
